What’s New – IWF 2016

Last week I offered to be your personal shopper and the amount of emails I received was overwhelming…  Thank you!

Most of you asked for the same thing –

Products to make your job easier, upcoming trends and new hardware.

This is the 8th time I attended IWF, my first time as a member of Richelieu and it was a completely different experience.

We had a huge booth right in front dedicated to closets, kitchens and home organization.

Here are three products that got a lot of attention –

ThingAMeJig Scribing Tool

Everyone of my customers that watched the demo bought one.  Check out the video – You can scribe countertops, toe kicks, verticals etc… I guarantee this will save you time and make your finished product look better.

ButterFly Table Mechanism

Total home organization is very hot right now. You are already in the home and maximizing space in your clients closet, home office, pantry and bedroom… Why not go further and offer a custom table?   The butterfly table is very easy to build and I’m sure those of you with showrooms in urban markets can sell a ton of these. This is a great way to add a few dollars to your installation.

Wardrobes

In Europe people don’t have closets they have wardrobes and that trend could be seen all over the show floor.  Sliding and pocket doors were in every booth.  There are systems that work with tall or short doors, bi-passing or bi-folding.  The below video shows some of the different options.

IWF is one of my favorite shows – I always have a lot of fun catching up with my customers and I’m excited about all of the new products that will be hitting the market.

Did you attend?  What did you think of the show?

I would love to hear your thoughts – leave them in the comments section below.

Think Of Me As Your Personal Shopper

IWF 2016

No I can’t help you pick out which tie to wear with that shirt or which shoes go with those pants, BUT I do know quality hardware when I see it…

Tuesday I’ll be joining thousands of woodworkers, manufacturers and importers in Atlanta for IWF 2016.

This is one of my favorite shows because I have an opportunity to connect with new vendors and find new products that could change the way we do business.

I have found some winners in the past – valet rods, belt and tie racks, and most recently jewelry trays.

We won’t discuss the losers… 🙂

If you don’t have time to attend IWF this year – let me know what would be on your shopping list.

I have a list of products that I think my clients would benefit from, but I would love to hear from you –

  • Is there a product that you are currently using that you wish you could buy from a more reliable source?
  • Is there a product that you think you’re paying too much for?
  • Is there a product that you wish was on the market but isn’t?

Leave a comment or send me an email – I’ll do my best to find what you are looking for.

If you are attending IWF reach out to me, I would love to catch up with you.

See you at there.

Safe travels!!

However – Lately the most popular question that I’m getting asked is

“How is the transition going?”

It could be the honeymoon – but I’m having a blast.

The main reason for that, is now it’s so much easier for me to help you.

It’s easier for my to stock the items that you need at the price you want to pay.

It’s easier for me to bring in cool new products that I know you will be able to sell.

It’s easier for me to create programs that solve your closet hardware pains…

Of course some of this will take time – just know that I am working behind the scenes to add to your bottom line and make your company run smoother.

Ignore the Connection Between Millennials and Home Storage at Your Own Risk…

Last week NY Times reporter Penelope Green shared her experience living in a 300 square foot micro apartment in Kips Bay, Manhattan.   (Click for full article)

After watching the video – do you want to move in?

Of course you do – There are so many things to love!

Glossy cabinets, LED lighting, and transforming furniture.

It’s a luxury dorm room in one of the trendiest neighborhoods in Manhattan.

Why is this important to you and your business?

The obvious – every inch of space needs to be maximized in these micro apartments.  A Murphy Bed, a suspended cabinet that turns into a 5′ dinner table, and a hidden drying rack are a few of the necessities.

What does this have to do with millennials?

I already told you it’s like a luxury dorm room.  These apartments are perfect for a single, 30 something, with a good job living in the city…  I bet micro apartments develop a cult following and that MTV is already planning a reality TV show.

Take it a step further and when these millennials finally do settle down and start a family guess what they will need… Yep Closets!!

Are you ready to sell to millennials?  Here are 10 ways their shopping habits differ from other generations.

What do you think about micro living?  Do you think it will catch on?
